This workshop presented by David Paul will focus on:

  • Contrast between behaviorist and constructivist teaching approaches
  • Emphasis on the effectiveness of the constructivist, child-centered approach
  • Benefits for all teachers in understanding key points from three constructivist psychologists: Jean Piaget, George Kelly, and Lev Vygotsky

About David Paul:

David Paul founded David English House in Hiroshima in 1982. By 1997, it had 50 staff in Hiroshima and similar numbers in franchises in Thailand and Korea. It taught over 100,000 students and contributed significantly to the community.

David also wrote best-selling books focusing on applying constructivist, student-centered ideas to the East Asian ELT classroom. He founded ETJ (English Teachers in Japan) in 1999, which now has about 10,000 members. He is currently president of Language Teaching Professionals, developing resources to support and train teachers of children
